Secretariat: Vehicle Control System Begins, August
A new system of control and monitoring of vehicles in the Rivers State Secretariat Complex will come into effect from Saturday August 1, 2009.
In the new arrangement, vehicles coming into the Secretariat Complex would be issued with tallies which must be handed over to traffic controllers upon leaving the complex through the exit gate.
A statement from the Office of the Head of Service, signed by the Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare), Mr Gogo J. Isong indicates that special parking lots clearly marked with directional signposts are to be designated for government officials, civil servants and private vehicles, while traffic controllers would be positioned at various parking lots to direct vehicles so as to ensure compliance with the new arrangement.
The statement further said that in order to properly identify vehicles owned by civil servants, stickers would be issued to civil servants at their various ministries, departments and agencies, adding that all vehicles without civil servants stickers on their windscreen would be directed to park at spaces designated for private vehicles.
The statement, therefore, advised all government officials, civil servants and the general public to comply with the new arrangement and cooperate with the traffic controllers to ensure orderliness and safety of vehicles in the State Secretariat Complex.
