RSG Inaugurates Malaria Control Booster Committee
In a bid to further fight malaria, the Rivers State Government has inaugurated the project advisory committee of the malaria control booster project.
Inaugurating the committee in his office in Port Harcourt, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Sampson Parker, said it is saddled with the responsibility of formulating policy direction for the project and ensure policy implementation.
The committee, according to the commissioner, would also undertake periodic review of the project and contribute to resolve project implementation constraints.
Dr Parker, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Anthony Nwiado, also disclosed that the committee will also deliberate on the annual work plan and budget.
The ten-man committee, headed by the Hon Commissioner for Health has the chairman, House Committee on Health, Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Irene Inimgha as a member.
Other membes of the committee include the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health (MOH), Dr Anthony Nwiado, Chairman, Hospitals Management Board, Director, Public Health, state Ministry of Health, Dr Claribel Abam, Director, Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs Elizabeth Bobmanuel, a representative of the Ministry of Finance, Empowerment Support Initiative representative, a medical personnel from the private sector, as well as the state Malaria Programme Manager, Dr Justina Jumbo.
