RSG Committed To Sports Dev – Iyaye
The Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye has reiterated government’s commitment to grassroots sports development.
Iyaye, who made this known in his office in Port Harcourt while receiving the football ambassador, John Fashanu, said government would continue to build and encourage sports development in the state.
He noted that the encouragement of sports development is part of government’s social responsibilities to the people of the state at all levels.
He further said that “the creeks and streets of Rivers State would soon be free from all crimes as youths would not be found unemployed following government’s pro-active measures of combating crime and unemployment”.
The Commissioner commended Fashanu on his effort at rehabilitating Rivers youths through his football talent hunt programme in conjunction with the State’s Rehabilitation Committee.
The Rivers sports boss however called on the youths in the state to take advantage of Government’s Social Rehabilitation Committee’s programme at the Okrika camp.
Earlier, Fashanu commended the commissioner for his interest and focus on grassroots sports development.
