A police pathologist from Force Headquarters, Abuja, was in the state at the weekend to exhume the body of Mr Feng Shenyi, killed by kidnappers in 2007 at Owotu Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state.
The Tide gathered that Shenyi, a technical partner, to Innoson Motor Assembly Nnewi, in Anambra State, was kidnapped with two others at Innoson plant in 2007.
The Tide further learnt that has was later taken to a camp at Ekoli Edda in Ebonyi State and killed.
Mr. Chris Ezike, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who led the team of CID and the pathologist, Dr Willson Akhiwu, recovered the remains of Shenyi, including bones, skull, ribs, shoe and clothes.
The chairman, Innoson Group, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, regretted that efforts to save Shenyi proved abortive.
“They asked me to pay ransom, we paid and finally they didn’t release him. Government tried through the use of police and the military to rescue them but they succeeded in rescuing one Chinese and one Nigerian. They took this one (Shenyi) away”, he said.
