Penalty Shootout Rules, As Sharks Hit S/Finals Federation Cup
It was penalty shootout galore across the quarter final centres of the 2009 Federation Cup competition yesterday as clubs battled for the semi-final tickets.
All the matches had to be decided through spot kicks after the encounters were tied at the end of regulations time.
Rivers State flag bearers, Sharks FC continues their excellent run in the competition with a 5-4 shootout victory over Nasarawa United in Abeokuta.
The blue Angels, who had won all their group matches at the same venue had to resort to the kicks to snatch the semi final ticket from Narasawa United.
Thus, the club remains on line for the converted trophy and a continental ticket, which is its major target and mandate this season.
At the Uyo Township Stadium, Enyimba International which edged out Dolphins FC from the quarter final stage via a toss of coin, outscored Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, 3-2 from the spot after their match ended 0-0.
Also, reigning league champions, Bayelsa United FC ended the dream of their sister club and FA Cup defending champions, Ocean Boys, 3-2 on penalties.
With the result, Bayelsa United is on track for a possible double for the season. Their encounter had also ended scoreless in regulation time.

Sharks FC will now clash with Lobi Stars while Enyimba and Bayelsa United battle for the finals tickets in Owerr, same day.
