Orji Reconstitutes Cabinet, Swears In 19 Commissioners
Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State Friday swore in 19 new commissioners to reconstitute the state Executive Council which he dissolved March 8.
The new commissioners and their portfolios are: Chief Victor Ubani (Special Duties in the Governor’s office), Chief Johnny Ukpabi, (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs); Chief John Nwokocha, an Editor with Vanguard (Information, Culture and Tourism) and Mr. Jones Udeogu, (Finance), Barrister Umeh Kalu (Justice), and Chief Charles Ojukwu (Environment);
Others are: Prince Emeka Okafor (Commerce and Industry), Engr. Emma Nwabuko (Works and Transport), Prince Emeka Nwachukwu (Lands and Urban Development), Dr. (Mrs). Rose Ndimele, (Youth Development), Dr. (Mrs.) Rose Ekeleme, (Education) and Hon. Fidelis Nwachukwu, (Public Utilities).
The rest are Mr. Amanze Israel (Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation Ministry), Barrister Uche Ihediwa, (Housing), Prince Ezekwesiri Ananaba (Petroleum), Mr. Loveday Nwauba (Science and Technology), Mr. Ossy Nwanmuo (Sports), Mr. Uche Enyioko (Agricuture) and Dr. Camdi Ahuama- Commissioner for Health.
At the swearing-in ceremony held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium filled to the brim by supporters and well wishers of the new commissioners, Governor Orji charged them to surpass the performance of their predecessors.
“Today, we are swearing in a new batch of Commissioners that will man the various ministries critical to service delivery in Abia State.
Today’s event will also mark the reconstitution of the Abia State Executive Council.
“Let me state that these new Commissioners will be expected to go the extra mile in the course of their duty. You will be expected to surpass bounds and limits previously set, you will work odd hours and under tight situations yet I will expect maximum results from you.
What I will require from all of you is sound initiative, focus and unflinching dedication to the service of the people of Abia State at whose pleasure, we are called to serve,” the governor said.
Orji warned that any commissioner caught in the web of corruption would be shown the way out.
