Nigeria To Apply Age Test On Youth Teams

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), President Sani Lulu Abdullahi says Nigeria will now be employing MRI bone scans to determine the age of players in the cadet teams.

John Obuh’s Golden Eaglets will be the first group to be subjected to these tests, according to the NFF boss.

“We will use the MRI bone confirmation tests introduced by FIFA,” Lulu said. “We want to be sure that we do it correctly and that players who represent Nigeria at underage competitions are actually the ages they claim to be.

“We will subject all the players in the Under-17 team to this test before they embark on their final training.”

Lulu’s statement will come as welcome news to Nigerians who have long questioned the ages of some of the player representing the country at junior level.
