Newcastle Gets Offer For Martins

Newcastle United have received a formal bid for striker Obafemi Martins, although the identity of the club is as yet unknown.

The Nigeria international commands hefty wages in excess of £60,000 a week, and is one of the players Newcastle are looking to offload to ease their financial burden ahead of life in the Championship.

Martins’ recently pledged his immediate future to Newcastle, but our source understands that the club would be happier to have the burden of his astronomical wages off their books, even though they would have to bite the bullet and pay him a huge loyalty compensation.
