Kidnappers Release Chime’s CPS
The Chief Press Secretary to the Enugu State Governor,Mr Dan Nwomeh, has been released by his captors after holding him hostage for seventeen days.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media,Mr Vin Martin Obiora Ilo, indicates that Mr Nwomeh who returned to the warm embrace of his family and friends, hale and hearty after missing for seventeen days , was released by his captors about 9pm Monday, in Aba, Abia State.
The statement on behalf of the family, government and people of Enugu State thanked millions of Nigerians for their prayers and support during the kidnap period which it described as “ trying times.”
Mr Ilo also thanked the security agencies for their dexterous efforts, which led to the freedom of the kidnapped Chief Press Secretary unharmed.
The statement further reassured the inhabitants of Enugu State of the readiness of the government to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
It would be recalled that Mr Nwomeh was abducted close to his residence in Enugu over two weeks ago by unknown persons suspected to be kidnappers and driven to unknown place which later turned out to be Aba, Abia State.
With the release of the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, many government officials in the state can now sleep with their two eyes closed as the abduction of Mr Nwomeh generated a lot of tension especially among government appointees .
