Group Criticises NDDC Board Composition
Two groups, Isoko Progress Union and Ndokwa Peoples Forum, have criticised the recent composition of the board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Representatives of the groups stormed the National Assembly to protest the composition, which they considered faulty.
They demanded a slot on the commission.
The list of the appointees, which has Larry Koinyan as chairman of the commission, is presently before the Senate for confirmation.
Should their demand fall on deaf ears, according to a letter to the Senate President, David Mark, signed by President of the Ndokwa Peoples Forum, Johnson Amalime, crises would escalate in the region.
The groups said unless their kinsman was appointed Executive Director of Finance and Administration of NDDC, as agreed in a rotation pact by all the ethnic groups in the region, the area would know no peace.
