Benue Deputy Governor Survives Auto Crash

Chief Steven Lawani, the deputy governor of Benue State has survived a car crash along the Keffi-Abuja road last Saturday.

An eye witness account states that the accident occurred when a reckless okada rider ran into the deputy governor’s convoy along Masaka, a suburb of Abuja.

In an attempt to avoid crushing the motorcyclist, Lawani’s Maneuverred the official vehicle, a land crushier jeep which later veered off the road and somersaulted three times before it came to a halt.

Although Chief Lawani only sustained minor injuries, his official vehicle was damaged beyond repairs.

While confirming the report, the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor Mr. Ejembi Oguche told Journalist that is boss was heading to Lagos from Makurdi, enroute Abuja, for the final matches of the Federation Cup, Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi playing the third place with their counterpart in Bayelsa, the Bayelsa United, Sunday.

Oguche said the deputy governor who was treated for minor injuries at an undisclosed hospital, has since been discharged.

The deputy governor is the chairman of Lobi Stars.
