Amaechi Flags Off Female Commercial Drivers’ Scheme
Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi yesterday flagged off the first phase of the Female Commercial Drivers Scheme, ESI Ladies Cabbies, initiated by a Non-governmental Organisation, the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) founded by the Rivers First Lady, Dame Judith Amaechi.
The wife of the Governor intends to encourage women participation in public transportation through the ESI Ladies Cabbies Scheme.
The ESI ladies cabbies would empower 53 women with taxis for commercial purposes.
The grand finale which is the formal hand over of vehicles to the 53 beneficiaries would be preceded by a road show by the drivers in Port Harcourt, a statement from the office of the governor’s wife indicated.
