1000 Get Free Medicare In Baptist Church

No fewer than 1000 persons received free medical services offered by the First Baptists Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The free medical service organised by the church as part of its health week programme saw members and non-members trooping into the church to take advantage of the medical service offered by Christian nurses and doctors in the church.

Some of the beneficiaries of the medical service defied the on-going reconstruction work of the church building complex to receive free drugs after detailed medical examination of their various health problems.

Both old and young were examined for high blood pressure, urinary track related problem, blood test for excessive sugar, malaria, jaundice, and other diseases after which free drugs were provided.

Sister Sepribo Udom a member of the medical team told news men shortly after the exercise that many received their faith drugs while others were provided medical advice services.

She called on members of the church moved by the spirit of God to assist the clinic with drugs and materials to help the needy in the society.

Programme lined up for the health Sunday, she said, include a lecture on breast and prostrate cancer.

Rev. Isaiah David the (Senior Pastor) in charge of First Baptist Church, Aggrey Road, said the health week is a yearly programme set aside by the Nigerian Baptist convention to identify and highlight the role of the church in medial related problem for the greater society.

In his word: “You know the church is part of the society and it’s expected of the community of faith to carry out the work of Salvation in God’s perspective”.

The one week health Sunday which started last Sunday had its theme: “Global warning and human health”.
