The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Diaspora chairman in the Republic of Congo, Barrister Kingsman Obinna Nwobodo, has charged opposition parties in Nigeria to always eschew politics of bitterness and rancur in order to contribute their quota in moving the country forward. Nwobodo, who gave the charge in a chat with newsmen in Enugu, Tuesday, also reminded politicians that politics is never a do or die affair, but a call to serve one’s father land faithfully with the fear of God. He, therefore, frowned at the manner in which Nigerian opposition parties go about their political pursuit during and after any elections in the country, especially the use of derogatory and unprinted words against the ruling party. “The way the opposition parties use all forms of orthodox and unorthodox means to pull down the ruling PDP is quite unfortunate. Some opposition parties are always out to criticize PDP, even without having any reason for such criticism. I am using this opportunity to call on Nigerians including the opposition to always see PDP as a party for all.” Continuing, Nwobodo further urged the opposition in the country to always have at the back of their mind while going for any election that politics is a game of number and whoever that failed to make should learn how to join hands with those that won to move the country forward, rather than pulling it down. Barrister Nwobodo, who is also the coordinator of PDP in 11 Central African countries, said even though, the party may have made some mistakes in the past, it still has all it takes to take the nation to the next level. According to him, Nigerian opposition parties should join hands with the PDP in bettering the lots of the people rather than engaging in unconstructive criticisms at all times. Pointing out that though, there was nothing wrong in criticising the government but such criticism, he maintained, should always be constructive. He, therefore used the forum to express satisfaction with the programmes and policies of the PDP led government at the federal and Enugu state, stressing that their policies are human oriented in nature especially as it concerns rule of law and provision of social infrastructure. The ruling party, Nwobodo stated, would continue to embark on programme and policies capable of improving the lots of the electorate, calling on Nigerians not relent in throwing their full weight behind it. On 2011 polls, the Enugu state born lawyer turned politician, assured that the ruling party would allow internal democracy to reign supreme, saying the era of fielding unpopular candidates was over. He disclosed that current card carrying members of PDP in Central Africa are not less than 25, 000 with about 4,000 in Congo Republic alone, describing the party as the largest in the African continent. The Diaspora PDP chairman, also revealed that he and his colleagues in other parts of the globe few days ago ended a crucial meeting with National chairman of the party, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor on the way forward for the party in the foreign lands.
