‘Mass Defections Of APC Members, Victory For PDP’

Ahead of the general elections, Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Special Projects, Alabo George Kelly has said that flurry of defections by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a sure sign of victory for the latter in the state.
Kelly, who is the PDP campaign director in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State claimed that about two members of the APC in the area had joined the PDP recently.
Kelly stated this in a chat with newsmen shortly after a former APC chieftain in Asari/Toru LGA, Sampson West led other APC members to decamp to the PDP at the party’s ward to ward campaign, saying the development was an affirmation that the PDP will emerge victorious in Asari/Toru LGA and the state as a whole in the elections.
He said, “In the past one month we have had over two thousand APC members in this local government defect to the PDP with their notable leaders.
“We are expecting more. Right here in my ward there are over three defections. We will get all of them back until APC is totally empty. Asari/Toru is PDP and Rivers State is PDP. So what you will expect to see would be absolute victory for PDP in the state elections.
“We are going to deliver 100 per cent for Governor Nysom Wike because he has done such much for the local government and that is why you see the people looking very enthusiastic and ready to return him to Government House,” the PDP chieftain stated. On his part, former APC chieftain who defected to the PDP, Sampson West said he and his supporters decided to dump the APC due to the high rate of marginalisation in the party.
West, who is a former deputy speaker of the Asari/Toru Legislative Assembly promised to rally support for the PDP in the general elections to ensure that the party wins in all units.
According to him: “In the APC marginalisation is on the high level. The injustice is also on the high level. Nothing good is ever coming forth. You can see the various litigations within the party in the state.
“So the best thing for any good politician is to move to where there is light, where there is progress and power. In PDP all these elements exist,” he stated.
