Wike’s Campaign: A Show Of Projects’ Force

On Wednesday, 16th January, 2019, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike flagged off the formal campaign rallies to renew his mandate to govern the state for a second term. This time, Governor Wike is running on the premise of his outstanding projects delivery.
Governor Wike and Rivers State PDP Stakeholders stormed Tai Local Government Area where they formally solicited the support of the people of the Local Government Area for the state governor and all PDP candidates.
For the Rivers State Governor, the request was simple. Look at my outstanding projects delivery in Tai Local Government Area and give me the opportunity to do more.
Unlike the failed APC Federal Government, Governor Wike is saying categorically, I have used your mandate to improve your living standard. If you give me another opportunity, I will do more for the people of Tai Local Government Area.
For the security forces, from time to time, they display their arsenal in what they usually call “show of force”. This is usually done to build the confidence of the community in the ability of the security forces to protect the people in times of conflict.
Governor Wike’s Show of Projects Force is simply a practical show of his capacity to use the people’s mandate for the benefit of the people. It is a testament that in all the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, the Wike-led administration has touched the lives of the people.
For Tai Local Government Area, Governor Wike is constructing the Kira-Nonwa-Barayira-Sime-Eteo Road.
The 10.2 Kilometre Road cuts across Tai, Eleme, Oyigbo and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas of the state. The road was abandoned for 50 years. This road is the key economic transformational factor in the area. The project is fundamental to the revival of the economy of the area. This lengthy road which is nearing completion is already serving its purpose.
The Tai people are also beneficiaries of the iconic Sakpenwa-Bori Road which runs from the headquarters of the Local Government Area through Gokana and Khana Local Government Areas. The dualisation of the Sakpenwa-Bori road has improved the economy of Tai Local Government Area. The people are genuinely appreciative of the Rivers State Governor’s efforts to develop their communities and improve their standard of living.
The Flag Off of the Rivers State PDP Campaign in Tai Local Government Area attracted thousands of people of the area in appreciation of the achievements of Governor Wike.
It was a carnival of sorts. Happiness filled the air. The Tai people celebrated the very essence of Governor Wike’s leadership.
Popular musician, Harrysong thrilled PDP supporters during the campaign. He transformed most of his hit songs to accommodate the beautiful achievements of Governor Wike.
Leaders and the masses of Tai Local Government Area declared in unison that they will ensure the re-election of Governor Wike.
Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Dr Jacobson Nbina said that the overwhelming victory of Governor Wike should be taken for granted because he has favoured the area.
Sir Mbakpone Okpe, Tai Local Government Area PDP Campaign Coordinator, Israel Godwin and Marvelous Dimkpa said that they would work with other stakeholders to ensure the victory for all PDP candidates in the area. They said that the outstanding achievements of the Rivers State Governor need to be sustained over the next four years.
Hundreds of APC chieftains led by the party’s women leader, Mrs Victoria Mgboh defected to the PDP. The Former APC Women Leader said they were attracted to the PDP by Governor Wike’s performance.
Rivers South East Senatorial District PDP Candidate, Mr Barry Mpigi said the people of the area will vote Governor Wike because the Rivers State Governor is the father of modern Rivers State.
Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah said Tai Local Government Area is a fertile ground for PDP because of the key projects executed by Governor Wike.
Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr John Bazia noted that Governor Wike has executed eight projects in the area. He said all Tai people are solidly in support of the Rivers State Governor.
For the Tai people, it were not just a campaign rally. It was a covenant point for the extension of development for their welfare.
Speaking at the rally, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike announced that he will construct a new General Hospital for Tai Local Governmesnt Area. He said this project was a joint decision taken alongside the stakeholders of the area. This announcement sent the people into a frenzy.
Governor Wike declared before Tai people that he had lived up to his campaign promises in 2014 ahead of the 2015 elections. He said that 2019 to 2023 will witness a higher level of development in Tai Local Government Area from his administration.
The governor said for the development of the state, Tai people must vote PDP candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and the Rivers State House of Assembly. He said that there was need for synergy as the state moved ahead in development.
He said that he had entered a covenant with Tai people to deliver more projects for them during his second term, noting that they were under obligation to protect their votes during the elections.
He said despite the assurances of the New Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rivers people should remain vigilant.
He said: “Anybody who rigs election in Rivers State will suffer God’s wrath. If you leave your home to come and rig in Rivers State, your family will suffer the consequences “.
Governor Wike said all the people of Rivers State were looking for, was free and fair elections, where the people will be allowed to choose their leaders.
He charged the people of Tai Local Government Area to vote overwhelmingly for PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar during the Presidential elections.
“Buhari does not like Rivers State. The only person that will help Rivers State is Atiku Abubakar. That is why we will vote for him”, the governor said.
Tai campaign flag off has set the tone for the campaign. This is an issue based campaign, premised on projects delivery and respect for promises that secured the first term for Governor Wike. Tai people have made their choice and they are with Governor Wike.
