A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court has remanded in prison custody one Mr. Achuse Harcourt for unlawfully having carnal knowledge of 10 and 11 year old children.
Harcourt, a 55-year-old man, who resides in Ogoloma, Okrika has been acused of having carnal knowledge of two sisters of the aaforesaid.
He is being tried on a two-count charge of having carnal knowledge of a girl of 10, thereby committing an offence punishable under section 31 (1) (2) of the Child Right Act, Laws of the Federation 2003.
The charge sheet made available to The Tide revealed that he also had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl of 11 years which is also an offence punishable under Section 31 (1)(2) of the Child Right Act, Laws of the Federation, 2003.
The Tide gathered that the children were neighbours to the accused and they normally go to his house to play with other children around.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
However, the Chief Magistrate, Barr Becky Sunny Hart remanded the accused in custody and referred the case to the Rivers State Director of Public Prosecution for his Advice.
