Group Organises Special Prayer For 2019 Polls


A pro-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) group in Rivers State, the Grassroots Democratic Initiative (GDI) has organised a special prayer session to intercede for a peaceful and violence-free polls in 2019.
Addressing newsmen, during the special prayer session in Port Harcourt, the President General of GDI, Hon Bright Amaewhule said the initiative was aimed at averting bloodshed during the 2019 polls.
He said the body, as a grassroot organisation, was committed to upholding the ideals of democracy, and called on political actors to play by the rules.
Amaewhule said the prayer session was also part of the programme of the body to sensitise the people and other critical stakeholders on how to conduct themselves during the elections.
He pointed out that Nigeria at the moment needs divine intervention as, the “All Progressives Congress (APC) – led government at the centre had brought untold hardship and suffering to the people”.
Amaewhule also accused the APC of “exposing Nigerians to wanton destruction and hopelessness”, and urged Nigerians of all divides to form a: “formidable front to vote the APC out of power in 2019”.
He reiterated the group’s determination to mobilise mass-based support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to retain power in Rivers State and win at the federal level in 2019.
