The Rivers State Government has dismissed claims by Senator Magnus Abe that the government was biased in the payment of salaries of civil servants in the state.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Fred Kpakol, explained that civil servants were not paid on the basis of party affiliation.
Kpakol also informed critics of Governor Nyesom Wike that the administration has paid the 13, 000 teachers employed by the Chibuike Amaechi administration.
On his part, the President General of a pro-PDP group, Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), Bright Amaewhule said Governor Nyesom Wike has been consistent and fair in the payment of salaries of civil servants in the state.
Amaewhule advised Senator Magnus Abe to focus his energy on the successful implementation of the UNEP report in Ogoniland rather than engaging in campaign of calumny against Governor Nyesom Wike.
