Magistrates Begin 2016 Confab In PH, Today

The 26th Biennial National Convention and Delegates Conference of all Magistrates in Nigeria will kick off in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, today.
The Magistrates, who began streaming into the state capital, yesterday, for registration, will converge at the Obi Wali Convention Centre in Port Harcourt, at 9am this morning for commencement of the opening ceremonies of the event, slated to run through Friday, 29th July.
A statement made available to The Tide, yesterday, by the National President, Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria (MAN), Chief Magistrate Victoria Isiguzo, said that the theme of the event is: “Redefining the Indispensible Role of Magistrates in the Administration of Justice”.
The statement further stated that the occasion, which will commence by 9am daily, will have the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, as the chairman while the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike and the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adanma Inyie Iyayi-Lamikanra will be special guest of honour and chief host, respectively.
Isiguzo also enjoined all Magistrates in the country and delegates to endeavour to attend as many important issues concerning the welfare and wellbeing of Magistrates would be dissected and decisions and or resolutions taken on the way going forward.
