Chairman of the Nigeria
Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Rivers State Chapter Mrs Lilian Okonkwo has expressed satisfaction over her team’s performance at the novelty match played last Friday to mark the 2015 Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) week.
The match which was played at Sharks Football Stadium, between the NMA and NAWOJ was part of the week long programme of the Women Wing of NMA.
Okonkwo who was her team’s goal keeper commended her colleague for their turn out and performance.
“I never believed my women could perform that well, with their sizes and short time of exercises, my women took over the field with much agility that I never knew existed in them”.
“It was a good exercise louting and I commend my women who came in their numbers to cheer the players”, she said.
She also commended Miss Jenifer Mere who scored the opening goal and Mrs Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, the Central defender to NAWOJ team whom she said, was doing very well at the central defence.
Earlier, Chairman of the NMA (Women Wing), Dr. Ibifuro Green lauded the NAWOJ for honouring their invitation, adding that, the match was an entertainment galore and a necessary exercise for women.
She however, promised a return match during NAWOJ week, adding that exercise is good for health.
Meanwhile, the match ended in a 1-1 draw after the 90-minute game.
It would be recalled that the event started with a dedication service on Sunday, 16th August and ended with a thanksgiving service on 23rd August, 2015.
