The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi has expressed assurance that with the level of distribution of permanent voters card to the electorate in the North and other parts of the country, and the test of popularity of the APC Presidential candidate, Maj-Gen Muhammadu Buhari, the road map to victory for the party was sure.
He spoke yesterday during the 2015 State Thanksgiving Day Service held at the Dr. Obi Wali International Convention Centre in Port Harcourt.
Amaechi said, “We are on course to move PDP out of office in the upcoming 2015 February elections. This is because; we need to ask ourselves why PDP is asking for the postponement of the elections? PDP has also gone ahead to ask the Editors of various national newspapers and other media houses to start heating up the political system that will warrant the postponement of the 2015 February  elections. I promise you that, PDP will be history  in this country after the Presidential elections. Over 60 to 65 per cent of the electorate in the North have already collected their permanent voter’s card”.
While condemning the unlawful activities of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the country, Amaechi decried the inability of the Jonathan-led government to attract development to Rivers State since 2011 and the need to revamp existing refineries across the country for maximum productivity.
The chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) enjoined Rivers people and supporters of the APC to vote massively for the party’s victory in the 2015 general elections for dividends of democracy to thrive.
“This is the time for the mass supporters of the APC to claim what rightly belongs to them from the PDP government. On the day of the election, we will vote APC all the way. This is the time to claim our victory and that is why Rivers State is close to the Presidency. So, we can bring dividends of democracy to our people. Check all the developments done by past leaders and even the President, no project was done by Jonathan, and his administration cannot revamp our refineries. That is the reason why we should vote APC”, the governor declared.
Against this backdrop, Amaechi extolled the virtues and qualities of APC guber candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, whom he described as a true Christian, as against his opponent in the PDP.
Amaechi also said that God has been the pillar of the success of his administration, as he urged Rivers people to join in thanking God for all the developments recorded so far.
The governor called on all Rivers people to join in thanking God for His mercy and kindness in piloting the affairs of the state since he assumed office in October, 2007.
“I want to be part of the prayers of thanksgiving to God Almighty as the end of my administration draws closer. I must say emphatically that, God has been very kind to Rivers people and I think we need to give thanks through this devotional service”, Amaechi said.
