65 Niger Delta Youth Enrol In UK Varsities
The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Hingsley Kuku said last Monday that his office had enrolled 65 youths from the region in various universities in the UK.
Kuku said in Abuja that the 65 youths were the latest group of beneficiaries in the scholarship scheme being managed for youths in the Niger Delta by his office.
The special adviser said the beneficiaries were enrolled to study Law, Mass Communication, Pharmacy, Accounting and Engineering at the universities of Brighton, Sheffiled, Glasgow, Nottingham, Trent and Brunel.
He said that the purpose of enrolling the youths into formal education was to build the capacity of youths in the region.
He recalled that 33 of the beneficiaries were products of scholarship programmes initiated by President Goodluck Jonathan when he was the Governor of Bayelsa State.
The presidential aide said he wanted the beneficiaries to excel in their educational pursuits.
“I want them to do exploits only in the things that are positive such as academics and even sports. Those things that will advance humanity and things that will bring praises unto them, their families, communities, Nigeria and the world at large. They should do exploits so that we will celebrate them. The only thing to get to that extent is hardwork,” Kuku said.
