A Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Ipalibo Iyiabo has remanded two accused persons in prison custody for alleged stealing and other criminal offences.
The accused persons, Elijah Sunday, 31, and Ability Umon, 19, are standing trial on three count charge, felony and stealing to wit.
The police prosecuting officer, Inspector Wilson Isaiah told the court that the accused persons and others now at large on the 8th day of April 2013 at Railway Abali Park did conspire among themselves to commit felony.
The prosecutor further told the court that the accused persons on the same date and place within the aforesaid magisterial district did steal one Nokia Asha 200 and Nokia xi handset valued at eighteen thousand naira (N18,000) only, property of one Sunday Oragim.
He also told the court that the accused persons did steal one Nokia Asha 200 handset valued twelve thousand naira (12,000.00) and a bag containing four thousand naira (N4,000) property of one Amaka Eze valued at N16,000.00, adding that the accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 516 (A), 390 (9) of the criminal code Cap 37 vol. II Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
While one of the acused persons pleaded guilty, the other on all the charges brought against them.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Ipalibo F. Iyiabo while remanding the accused persons in prison custody directed the police prosecutor to ensure that all the complainants in the matter the next adjourned date. He adjourned the matter to 24th April, 2013 for definite hearing on the matter.
