2015: NNPP Promises Unity Govt
The New Nigerian Peoples Party ( NNPP), says it would imbibe the policy of unity government if the party wins the governorship of Rivers State in the 2015 general election just as it said no political party should be described as encyclopedia in political wisdom.
The Rivers State chairman of the party, Deacon Princewill Enyi, who stated this on Friday shortly after been reelected as the state chairman of the party in the state regretted that the ruling party, both in the state and the federal level has refused to form a unity government that would usher technocrats to help provide ideas that could develop the state and the country.
According to him, the continued quest for unity government in Rivers State and the nation remains sacrosanct because a “loser today may be a winner tomorrow’’ as no political party is an encyclopedia of political knowledge and wisdom.
Deacon Enyi urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rescind its decision and commence the funding of registered political parties at both the national and state levels, stressing that it cannot feign ignorance of the fact that in politics, money is the determining factor.
The NNPP boss commended party members for their support and informed them about the struggle for the emergence of a new Rivers State which has begun, noting that the time has come for the people of the state to get it right having understudied the past and present political situation and likely future political scenario of the state.
“Rivers State is a project in the reckoning of God and so we must fulfill our destiny, not just for the sake of our party alone but for God and humanity,” he said.
While taking stock of the achievement in the last two years, he said the NNPP participated fully in all the elections in the state and nationally, explaining that the efforts at the state level have immensely contributed to the non-deregistration by the INEC at the national level with electoral act, INEC due processes and party internal democracy compliance as a yardstick.
He revealed that the contributions and waves the party made in the last general elections powered the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Rivers State chapter which nominated and pointed him their chairman, adding that, CNPP is an umbrella political body across Nigeria whose membership encompasses all registered political parties in the country.
Deacon Enyi, however, said that the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in the state would not relent until the party gets to the corridors of power and serve the people well.
Those elected as the new executives of the party include, Deacon Princewill Enyi, chairman,Madam Tessy Isioma Tenda, state vice chairperson, Rivers East,Elder Adumisa Mark Nte,state vice chairman, Rivers South East, and Mr Dakah Famous ,state vice chairman, Rivers West.
Others are,Hon Alexander Ukaegbu state secretary,Benjamin Ebiolem, Assistant Secretary and Godpower T.Harry, state treasurer.

Don’t Risk Your Legacy, Citizen Begs Jonathan Against 2027 Presidential Race
In a letter titled, “An Open Letter to Former President Goodluck Jonathan,” the observer said Dr Jonathan should be careful not to allow himself to be drawn into partisan calculations driven by ambition rather than national interest.
He cautioned the former president against allowing himself to be used by what he described as desperate political interests.
“I believe this is the time to protect the good name and legacy you have built over the years. You should not allow yourself to be used by desperate political elements who may be more interested in their own ambitions than in the future of Nigeria,” the letter read.
The Social Commentator further warned Dr Jonathan to be wary of those advocating for his comeback, claiming many of them were previously opposed to his administration.
“Many of those calling for your return today were your antagonists, those who frustrated your government back then. You should be careful not to become a pawn in a game designed by others or else they will stain your white with their ‘roforofo’,” he said.
He maintained that Dr Jonathan’s legacy remains defined by his decision to concede defeat in 2015, which he described as a landmark moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.
“Your legacy was built through years of public service and your decision to put the country’s peace above personal ambition at a critical moment in Nigeria’s history. That legacy should not be put at risk because of the desperation of a few politicians,” he added.
Mr Adenuga also alleged that some of the promoters of Dr Jonathan’s return have lost credibility in the public space.
“The truth is that some of the people pushing you to contest have already damaged their own reputations. They should not be allowed to stain your legacy with their soiled hands. What they could not achieve on their own should not be pursued through your name and goodwill,” he stressed.
He concluded by urging the former president to remain above political manoeuvring and protect his place in history.
“History has been kind to you. Preserve that honour and remain above the political games of those who want to use your name for their own purposes,” he wrote.
Recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the Kabiru Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a special convention held in Abuja, where delegates ratified his nomination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
