NGF Urges Commissioners To Reject Revenue Allocation

The Nigeria Governors‘ Forum (NGF) has directed state commissioners for finance to reject revenue allocations not in accordance with the Appropriation Act of 2011.

The forum gave the directive in a communiqué read by its Chairman, Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers, at the end of its meeting in Abuja, which ended at the early hours of Tuesday.

The forum also rejected illegal deductions amounting to N1.079 trillion for nine months, which it said, were in excess of the budgeted N240 billion for oil subsidy.

“This is in clear violation of the provisions of the Appropriation Act, 2011 and the Nigerian Constitution.

“The total deduction for last year was N500.6 billion, which has more than doubled to N1.264 trillion in the first nine months of this year.

“This, erroneously, suggests that consumption has increased.”

The forum commended the state commissioners for finance and accountant-generals for rejecting the illegal deduction of N231.6 billion at the October meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

It noted that the lawful deductions for the year had been made fully.

The NGF is an umbrella association of the 36 state governors.
