The Rivers State Government is to equip the 112 bed medical centre at the State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.
Health Commissioner, Dr Sampson Parker who disclosed this during a facility tour of the centre in Port Harcourt, stated that government is committed to fulfilling promises.
The commissioner who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Anthony Nwiado said the hospital which is a secondary health care facility is expected to cater for the University community and other neighbouring communities like Mile three, Rumueme and its environs.
According to him, the centre when operational will handle cases that need specialised care and to be referred to tertiary hospital.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far and reiterated the commitment of Governor Amaechi- led administration to improve on healthcare delivery in the state.
