P-Square, Foreign Artistes Battle For BETS Awards


Nigerian wave-making artistes P-Square and MI are among the stars who made a surprise entry into the category of Best International Acts Awards  (BETS) at this year’s event taking place in United States of America on June 21, 2010 at the Shrine Auditorium Los Angeles California.

According to our source, other foreign-based Nigerians also pushing for recognition with this award include, soul singer Lanra Izibor and rapper known as Wale, Grammy Award winner Sade Adu is also listed in the same category with fellow nationals. Jay-Z leads the nomination list with a total of 5 nominations.

To be hosted by Queen Latifa, the 2010 BET Awards will recognise the achievements of artistes, entertainers and athletes in 19 categories. Front runner Jay-Z got five individual nominations across multiple categories. Best Male Hiphop Artist, Best Collaborations, Video of the year (for which he holds two nominations) and viewers choice.

Closely behind are Beyonce (Best Female RNB artiste, Best collaboration, video of the year and viewers choice), Alice Keys (Best female RnB Artiste, Best Collaboration, Video of the year, Viewers choice) Trey Songz (Best male RnB, artiste)Best collaboration, viewers choice) and Malaniefiona (Best Female R&B artiste, Best New artiste, video of the year, centric award; with four each.
