NSE: Market Volume Dips, As Value Surges By N818m

Trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday ended on a positive note as the value of traded equities appreciated by 14.37 percent.

Specifically, market closed at 27,486.62 as market capitalisation stood at N6.65 trillion.

Investors however traded a total of 578,086,862 shares worth N5,91 billion in 9,869 deals compared to a total of 590,133,604 shares worth N5.69 billion in 11,345 deals.

The volume of traded equities depreciated by 2.04 percent or 12,046, 742 shares to close at 578,086,862 shares from 590,133,604 shares.

Also, the value of shares traded surged by 14.37 percent or N817.7 million to close at N5.91 billion from N5.69 billion traded the previous day.

Nestle Plc led the gainers chart after trading a total of 142,743 shares worth N44.57 million in 50 deals, gaining N13.89 per share.

Guinness, Mobil, Oando and 7Up all followed, opening and closing at N165, N173.25; N159.01, N166.54; N117.21, N123.07 and N43.02, N45.17 respectively, gaining N8.25, N7.53, N5.86 and N2.15 respectively.

On the other hand, the losers chart was led by Julius Berger which opened and closed at N61.88 and N58.79 respectrively, losing N3.09 per share.
