Why I Asked Police To Release Those Who Planned To Kill Me – Pastor

Pastor Israel Okachi is the resident Pastor and General Overseer of Sure Foundation Bible Church, Ibaa in Emohua local government area of Rivers State on whose life several attempts have been made by cultists who have seized the control of power to unleash mayhem on the people of Ibaa unchallenged.

Only last month three members of the cult group who forced the man of God to go on exile from Ibaa, trailed him to Port Harcourt where he was taking refuge to carry out their devilish act, but luck ran out of two of them and they were apprehended by anti-crime patrol police team.

The interesting development is that even after the suspects had made confessional statements to the police,  the gang still went to destroy the remaining part  of the story building belonging to the servant of God. However Pastor Okachi granted them amnesty and requested the police at the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) handling the case to release the suspects.

“They carried out several attempts at the life of my family members and I, with guns. They destroyed all my properties and forced the church of God to close at Ibaa. I had to run out of my village when the attack became too much. It all started when one Nwaka Azu led them to me demanding that I give them N400,000.00. They claimed to be in control of the community”.

“I refused to comply because I am not part of the chieftaincy crisis that led to the issue of cultism in Ibaa community. I pray against evil in the community. I know this youngmen are influenced by the devil. So, I have to forgive them and let go. All I pray for is peace to the community, the state and Nigeria, and the salvation of souls for heaven”, he told The Tide On Sunday.

Pastor Okachi received God’s call in October 1992 and left his circular job with the Rivers State Ministry of Works for the pulpit. “Then I was having three wives, but the second and the third wives had to leave after I became born-again. When all these things were happening around me in 1992 God proved himself again and told me that I was called to be an apostle. I was fully ordained as a Pastor by Reverend Frank Jumbo of Kingdom Power Gospel Mission in 1999. By the grace of God since then I have been standing in the gap for my village, my compound and also Ibaa community”.

“I love my people of Ibaa with the love of Christ. God used me to build up his church at Mgbogizi village in Ibaa, the Sure Foundation Bible Church, which by the grace of God I am the general overseer. These boys that destroyed my house are from the same village. That is the wickedness of the devil. However the scripture says in John 15:18 the world must surely hate you because they first hated Jesus”.

The reason why I forgave them is because I am a child of God who listens from the word of God. They should repent from their evil ways else they perish. The scripture says in the book of Luke 13:3 “I tell you; but except you repent, you shall all like wise perish”. All my properties worth N30 million which they destroyed can not be compared with the word of God and my salvation I am still holding on to. With the word of God, I am very much satisfied, because the scripture says: Man shall not live by bread alone but by the word of God. I have forgiven  them because tomorrow they might turn out to be useful to God and man when they eventually repent.

The man of God who is also the Zonal Chairman of the Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Ibaa branch shocked the police and community members when he asked the police to discharge the suspects in the face of glaring evidences. “The church being closed down since in Ibaa about seven months ago be re-opened immediately because that is God’s property”, he requested.
