Policemen attached to the Security/Criminal Intelligence Bureau of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Uyo recently rescued a man identified as Pastor Jonah Malachy Akpan, kidnapped by a syndicate of six-armed kidnappers.
The man who is a proprietor of a private school was abducted on the site of his school when the kidnappers stormed the site and whisked him away.
It took the timely intervention of the security operations following a tip-off to mobilise and got the victim rescued while the gangsters escaped by the whiskers into the nearby bush along Nungoku village, Ibiono Ibom local government.
In another development, a team of security operations on patrol ran into a scene of a two-man armed robbery operation along Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
The team immediately swung into action with a bid to dislodging the robbers, who had dispossessed their victim, Ifiok Sunday Moses ‘M’ and Ekomobong Sunday Dan ‘F’ of their handsets at gun-point, and also inflicted varying degrees of wound on them.
According to information made available to the press by Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Gabriel Ngbam, the robbers on sighting the police made efforts to escape but luck however ran out of them and Christopher Etim was over powered and apprehended while his partner in crime fled the scene.
When interrogated, the culprit owned up to the crime, more so as the tendency of denying his involvement became difficult and having been properly identified by the victims.
In the same vein armed robbery suspects, Friday Eno Akpan ‘M’ and Ubong Jeremiah ‘M’ both of Aya Obio Akpan Village, Oruk Anam local government were apprehended.
The suspects were apprehended with locally made pistol, one Qlink 150 motorcyle with registration number QH 256 MPK, one unregistered Qlink 150 motorcycle and one Yamaha keyboard piano.
The suspects are said to be armed robbers that have been terrorising people in the environ while police said efforts were being made to arraign them as soon as possible.
Equally, a crane Mercedes Benz lorry wit Registration Number AE 862 UYY loaded with large quantity of armoured cable was intercepted by men of Federal High Way Patrol along Ekem Itam in Itu local government.
The driver of the said lorry, one Clement B. Ekaennang of Nung Oku, Ibesikpo/Asutan local government and two other occupants were arrested.
Meanwhile, the owners of the armoured cable have identified and confirmed that the cables were stolen, even as the police have tidied their books to arraign them.
