Lawyers Protest Murder Of Colleague

Lawyers of Ibesikpo/Asatan extraction have condemned  the recent murder of their colleague, Hon. Barr. Imoh Udonwa by unknown gunmen.

Speaking under the auspices of Ibesikpo lawyers forum, they urged the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of police, Mr Walter Rugbere to track down those behind the dastardly act before it becomes too late.

They made known their protest last week when they paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family.

The lawyers who believed the murder of their professional colleague was politically motivated however, pleaded with the government to put a stop to this ugly trend, describing it as one incident too many.

It would be recalled that under the last political dispensation cases of assassination were rarely heard of compared to experiences in the last two and a half years of the present dispensation.

Perhaps, this was what triggered the call on government to put her machinery in motion to see what could be done to stop the trend.

Udonwa was shot dead by  unknown assassins in his wife’s car while   waiting to buy fuel.

The filling station attendant who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the assailants after shooting the victim waited to ensure that he gave up the ghost before they drove off in a black KIA jeep.

The source added that they also ransacked the car and carried away some files believed to contain vital documents.

Politicians, mostly of Attah’s faction have joined force with the lawyers to call for a stop to murder under any guise.
