Clergyman Advises Christians On Good Leadership

Christians in position of power have again been advised to do good to people who come their way.

Giving the advice while closing this year’s annual convention of Bishops of the African Church, Uyo diocese, the Rt. Rev. A. B. Kaladokudo (JP), said that it was by so doing that they would be living out the good example should by Jesus Christ while on earth.

The Bishop who gave the admonition at St. Michael’s African Church Four towns, Uyo reiterated the resolve of the church to partner with government at both federal and state levels to produce good leaders.

He regretted that since the advent of the democratic dispensation in Akwa Ibom State no member of the church has been given a leadership position in government, either by election or appointment.

He therefore prayed for a change to bring Akwa Ibom state at per with other states like Rivers where members of the church have occupied leadership positions and have not disappointed both the church and the state.

Kaladokubo used the opportunity to commend the state governor for his assistance to churches which was why African church gave him  the Nehemiah Award, adding that if it is the wish of God he should go for a second term to give the state more face lift.

Also speaking, the planning committee chairman, Ven. Edo-Obong Ikpoh challenged Christains to be born again.

He expressed optimism that God would answer  heir prayer and raise members of the church to position of authority as done in other states, adding that all they were asking for was for the will of God to prevail.

He also added that by the theme of the convention lives have been transformed and thanked God for bringing the convention to a successful end.

The transformation wrought on members by the convention was confirmed by the diocesan assistant secretary, Elder Akaruino Ekwere who promise to keep to what has been preached by looking forward to heavenly things.

As part of the activities to bring the event to a close, the result of the song competition earlier held was released where African Church, Cathedral carted away cash prizes including the trophy in the major category.
